The Challenge

Restaurant2Night came to iMobdev with a clear consumer problem: diners deciding "where to eat tonight" had no single place to compare nearby restaurants by discount, cuisine, and rating, and restaurants themselves had no easy way to fill empty tables on slow nights. Before iMobdev, the concept existed as a partner restaurant list and a rough idea for a same-night discount model — no working app, no map, no booking flow.

The pain points were specific. There was no map-based way to see which nearby restaurants had the deepest discount right now, forcing diners to check restaurant by restaurant. There was no fast cuisine filter for narrowing dozens of options down to "Italian" or "Tapas" in a couple of taps. And there was no in-app booking flow — diners could see a discount but had no way to lock in a table for a specific time and party size without calling ahead.

Every night without a working app was lost revenue on both sides: restaurants with open tables had no channel to advertise a same-night discount, and diners defaulted back to habit restaurants instead of discovering new ones — the exact problem Restaurant2Night was built to solve.

Technically, the app needed to blend three different discovery modes — list, map, and cuisine filter — against one live, geolocated restaurant dataset with real-time discount percentages, all inside a single cohesive navigation model.

Our Solution

iMobdev approached Restaurant2Night as a discovery-first app: get a hungry user from "open the app" to "here's a great nearby option with a real discount" in as few taps as possible, then make booking that table effortless. That principle shaped the persistent bottom navigation — List, Map, Cuisine, Sort, Search — so every discovery mode is one tap away at all times.

On the architecture side, we built native iOS and Android clients backed by a Node.js and Express API, with MongoDB storing restaurant profiles, cuisine tags, and live discount percentages, and the Google Maps SDK powering the map view's color-coded discount pins so the deepest discounts visually stand out at a glance.

On the UX side, every restaurant — whether found via list, map pin, or cuisine filter — opens into the same detail template: photo carousel, cuisine tags, discount banner, and three primary actions (map, menu, book) above ratings, price level, and distance, so the decision-making information is consistent no matter how a diner arrived there.

For integrations, the booking flow lets a diner pick party size and time and confirm a table directly against the restaurant's live availability, while the discount engine feeds the same percentage value into the list view, map pins, and restaurant detail page from one source of truth, so a "20% off" badge never goes stale across screens.

Delivery was phased around the discovery core first — list, map, and cuisine browsing against real restaurant data — with the booking flow and settings layered in once the browsing experience was validated with early restaurant partners.

The Impact

Restaurant2Night launched with a complete same-night dining loop: discover a nearby restaurant by list, map, or cuisine, see its live discount, and book a table for a specific time and party size, all inside one app. The color-coded map view gave diners an instant visual read on where the best deals were clustered, turning "where should we eat" into a quick, confident decision.

For restaurant partners, the discount engine gave a direct channel to fill tables on slow nights without discounting menu prices permanently. iMobdev continues to support Restaurant2Night as it onboards new restaurant partners and expands into new cities.
