The Challenge

People Plus set out to teach aspiring entrepreneurs the unglamorous fundamentals of starting a business — legal setup, fundraising, cash projections — but every existing option they tried was a wall of text nobody finished. Before iMobdev came on, the content lived in scattered videos, articles, and quiz decks with no single app to hold it together, and no way to tell whether anyone was actually learning anything.

The pain points were concrete. There was no progress system to make a user feel like they were advancing rather than just consuming content. There was no social pressure or competition to bring people back day after day, so completion rates on the video and article library were low. And the quiz content that did exist had no scoring or badge logic tying correct answers to any kind of visible reward.

Every month without a real product meant more learners bouncing off the content after a single session, which made it difficult for People Plus to prove engagement to the corporate training partners they were courting. Their pitch depended on retention numbers they had no way to produce.

On the technical side, the team needed the games, articles, and quizzes to plug into one consistent points-and-badges engine, on a timeline that didn't allow for building bespoke logic per content type.

Our Solution

iMobdev's approach was to treat every piece of content — video, article, or quiz — as a "game" with the same underlying contract: a difficulty, a completion signal, and a points payout. That single abstraction let People Plus mix formats freely while keeping the progress system consistent everywhere in the app.

On the architecture side, we built native Android and iOS clients against a shared REST API, with a points ledger and badge-evaluation service that runs after every completed activity. A leaderboard service aggregates points in near real time so rankings feel current without hammering the database on every app open.

On the UX side, the interface leans on a bold crimson-and-gold identity carried through the header bar, badge icons, and call-to-action buttons, with a slide-out menu keeping Games, Leaderboard, Badges, and Activity one tap away. Badge artwork uses a consistent hexagon shape at different tiers — bronze through confident, gold-star mastery — so users can see their trajectory at a glance.

For data, each activity records its own topic, points value, and badge reward through a shared content schema, so People Plus's team can add new videos, articles, or quizzes without an engineering release. The activity feed and leaderboard both read from the same event stream, keeping "what I did" and "how I rank" perfectly in sync.

Delivery was phased: the core games library, points ledger, and badge system shipped first, followed by the leaderboard and social layer, with a final phase spent tuning quiz UX and badge-tier balancing based on early user behavior.

The Impact

People Plus launched with a learning experience that behaves like a game people choose to come back to, not a course they abandon halfway through. The points-and-badges engine gave every video, article, and quiz the same rewarding structure, and the leaderboard introduced the social pull that had been missing from the original content library.

With real engagement data in hand, People Plus was able to bring completion and retention numbers — not just content samples — into conversations with corporate training partners. iMobdev continues to support People Plus as it expands the badge tiers and content library.
