The Challenge

Medi Rescue came to iMobdev with a life-safety mission and a brand mark — a cross inside a motion ring, paired with ambulance imagery — but no working app to put it behind. The concept was to give people facing a real emergency, from a hijacking to a medical crisis, a way to summon help without fumbling through menus.

The pain points were urgent by nature. There was no one-tap trigger that could fire off an alert the instant someone needed it, which meant every extra screen or field was a real risk during a crisis. There was no way to notify multiple trusted contacts at once with a distress message and situation context, forcing victims to call or text people one at a time. And the app needed to stay usable under panic, in seconds, not as a multi-step form that assumed a calm, unhurried user.

Every delay in shipping was a real-world risk: a safety app only earns trust once it's live, tested, and proven to work when it matters, and Medi Rescue needed that credibility to bring on security firms and community safety groups as distribution partners.

Technically, the app also had to stay lightweight and fast to open on a wide range of devices already in people's pockets, since a safety tool that's slow to launch defeats its own purpose.

Our Solution

iMobdev's approach was to treat Medi Rescue as a single-purpose safety utility rather than a full-featured app: one dominant HELP button as the primary interaction, with everything else — contacts, message, settings — one tap away but never in front of it.

On the architecture side, we built a native mobile app with a lightweight local and cloud-synced contact store, so a user's emergency roster and message template are available instantly, even under poor connectivity. Alerts are sent as SMS-based distress messages through a telephony provider, ensuring delivery even to contacts without the app installed.

On the UX side, the signature red-and-white cross-in-ring mark anchors every screen — home, about, profile, settings — so the app always feels like the same trusted tool no matter where a user is in it. Text entry was kept to an absolute minimum: a first and last name for the profile, up to four contact numbers, and one free-form message field, all on plain, high-contrast forms that work even in low light or high stress.

For integrations, we built categorized crisis flows — armed robbery, sexual violence, kidnapping, and auto rescue — each mapping to the same one-tap alert mechanism but with situation-specific context attached to the outgoing message. Facebook and Twitter connect options were added so users could quickly import contacts instead of typing numbers manually. Delivery was phased: the core HELP button and contact roster shipped first as the essential safety loop, with the About Us crisis-education content and social connect options following once the core alert flow was tested and reliable.

The Impact

Medi Rescue launched with a genuinely fast emergency flow: open the app, tap HELP, and trusted contacts receive a distress message with situation context in seconds. The minimal profile and settings screens meant new users could be fully set up — name, contacts, and message — in well under a minute, which matters enormously for a safety tool people hope to never need but must trust completely when they do.

The categorized crisis flows gave Medi Rescue a credible story to bring to community safety groups and security partners, backed by a working product instead of a concept. iMobdev continues to support Medi Rescue as it expands its contact and alert capabilities.
