The Challenge
Lift Setu's hardware partners had already built the controller boards that sit inside an elevator's machine room, streaming floor position, door state, direction, and fault codes as raw signals. What they didn't have was a way for a technician, building manager, or lift owner to actually see any of it. Before iMobdev, that data existed only on a maintenance panel inside the lift shaft — invisible to anyone not physically standing in front of it.
The pain points were concrete. Multiple lifts across a property, each identified only by a device ID and MAC address, needed to be selectable and monitored individually from a single account, whether the technician was on-site over Bluetooth or checking in remotely over the cloud. Every controller's raw digital input and output pins (HX0–HX11, HY0–HY11) needed to be translated into a live, readable status grid, not left as unlabeled signal states. And fault conditions needed to surface as a timestamped, coded error log a technician could act on immediately, not a blinking light with no history.
Every month without this visibility meant service calls that started with guesswork — a technician driving out to a site just to find out what was already knowable from the controller. For Lift Setu's business, a working app was the difference between selling a board and selling a monitored service.
Technically, the app also had to bridge two very different connection paths — Bluetooth Low Energy for on-site pairing and cloud sync for remote access — behind one consistent interface, without asking the user to think about which one they were on.
Our Solution
iMobdev treated Lift Setu as a real-time instrument panel first and an app second: every screen had to answer "what is this lift doing right now" as fast and as clearly as a technician standing in the machine room.
On the architecture side, we built a native Android app that connects to each controller over Bluetooth Low Energy for local pairing or through a cloud relay for remote monitoring, with a device-selection layer that lets one account manage multiple lifts across multiple properties by device ID, MAC address, and site address. Live floor position, door state, and direction are streamed and rendered on a dedicated status screen the moment a lift changes state, so the app never shows stale information.
On the UX side, the System Status screen leads with a glowing circular floor indicator as the single most important number on the whole app, backed by clear Door Status and Lift Direction cards so a glance answers the two questions technicians ask most. The Cartop screen exposes the controller's full raw I/O — all twelve input and twelve output pins — as a labeled, color-coded grid, giving experienced technicians direct visibility into the same signals the hardware sees. The Errors screen turns fault codes into a running, timestamped log with a prominent current-error indicator, so a lift owner can see not just that something went wrong, but when and how often.
For connectivity, the app was built device-agnostic from the start: the same screens render identically whether the active session is over Bluetooth or cloud, and switching between multiple registered lifts is a single selection step rather than a re-pairing process.
Delivery was phased around hardware readiness: Bluetooth pairing and the core System Status screen shipped first against early controller units, the Cartop I/O grid and Errors logging followed once the fault-code contract was finalized with the hardware team, and cloud relay support was added last to enable remote monitoring beyond Bluetooth range.
The Impact
Lift Setu launched with a single Android app that makes an elevator's internal state visible to the people responsible for it — floor position, door status, and direction at a glance, full I/O diagnostics for technicians, and a timestamped error log that turns fault codes into a maintenance record. What used to require standing in the machine room can now be checked from a phone, on-site or remotely.
The device-selection model means the same app scales from a single lift to a portfolio of properties without changing how it's used, giving Lift Setu's hardware a real monitored-service layer to sell alongside the boards. iMobdev continues to support Lift Setu as new sensor types and fault codes are added to the platform.
Key Features
What We Built
Live Floor & Direction Status
A glowing floor indicator plus door status and lift direction cards, updated in real time.
Multi-Device Management
Select and monitor multiple lifts across sites by device ID, MAC address, and location.
Bluetooth & Cloud Connectivity
The same screens work whether the session is paired over BLE on-site or relayed via the cloud.
Full Cartop I/O Grid
All 12 input and 12 output controller pins shown as a labeled, color-coded status grid.
Timestamped Error Logs
Current fault code plus a scrollable history log with error codes and exact timestamps.
Site-Aware Sessions
Every screen shows the active property address so multi-site technicians never lose context.
