The Challenge

Kuboxx came to iMobdev with a bold concept and little else: reward people for playing simple browser games with real, physical prizes — phones, cameras, appliances — instead of virtual badges. Before iMobdev got involved, the idea existed only as brand assets, a game wishlist, and a handful of static mockups. There was no working product, no points economy, and no way to actually track what a "win" was worth.

The pain points were specific. There was no unified currency system to convert gameplay into a single spendable balance across dozens of unrelated games. There was no secure redemption flow to let a user trade that balance for a real item without manual, error-prone fulfillment. And because the target audience skewed mobile-first but resistant to app-store installs, the experience had to feel native and instant without asking anyone to download anything.

Every week without a working platform was a week of lost momentum with prize and sponsor partners who wanted proof of an engaged, returning audience before committing inventory. Kuboxx needed a live, trustworthy product — not another deck — to keep those partnerships alive.

Technically, the team was also boxed in by a short runway: the game library, the promotions feed, and the prize catalog all had to ship against one lightweight design system, on a budget that ruled out building three separate teams to do it.

Our Solution

iMobdev's approach was to treat Kuboxx as a single, mobile-first web experience that behaves like a native app but needs nothing installed — reachable from one link, indexable, and shareable. That framing shaped every decision that followed: speed of load, clarity of navigation, and a currency system simple enough to trust at a glance.

On the architecture side, we built a React front end backed by a Node.js and Express API layer, with a PostgreSQL ledger tracking every "Cube" earned or spent as an auditable transaction rather than a cached number. A Redis layer sits in front of the ledger to keep the live "players online" and balance counters fast under concurrent load, so the flip-counter on the home screen always reflects a real, current total.

On the UX side, we kept the interface deliberately uncluttered: a single slide-out hamburger menu for Home, Promotions, Your Cubes, Games, and Settings, paired with large serif-leaning display type for headlines and a strict black-and-orange brand palette carried through every card, button, and badge so the product always feels unmistakably Kuboxx.

For integrations, each game reports its own difficulty, pixel value, and live player count through a shared scoring contract, so new games can be onboarded without touching the core app. The prize catalog syncs against a partner inventory feed so stock and cube pricing stay accurate, and the promotions feed was built as a CMS-driven carousel so Kuboxx's marketing team can rotate sponsor creative — sales, launches, seasonal pushes — without waiting on a deploy.

Delivery was phased in three sprints: the core game library and Cubes wallet shipped first as a testable MVP, the promotions feed and prize catalog followed in the second phase, and the final phase was dedicated to load testing, redemption-flow hardening, and cross-device QA ahead of public launch.

The Impact

Kuboxx launched with a working, revenue-ready loyalty loop where none existed before: play a game, watch Cubes accumulate in real time, and redeem them against a catalog of real prizes — all in a single mobile web session with zero installs. The phased rollout let Kuboxx start conversations with prize and sponsor partners using a live product instead of a pitch deck, and the CMS-driven promotions feed gave their marketing team independence to run new campaigns without engineering support.

The auditable Cubes ledger also gave Kuboxx a clean, trustworthy record of every transaction — the foundation they needed to negotiate further partner inventory and expand the game library with confidence. iMobdev continues to support Kuboxx as it adds new games and prize partners to the platform.
